Nettur Petti

Nettoor Petti is an ornamental box made by traditional artisans in Kerala. It is also called Aada Petti. The term Petti is derived from a place called Nettur located in South India. It is believed that the craft originated from here.

• Generally it is made from teak, rosewood, jack and wild jack. It is usually made with brass embellishments. Its lid is shaped like the roof of a traditional houses in Kerala.

• It was used by royal and aristocratic families, idol ornaments in temples and other women to protect and store ornaments.
