Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a clinical disorder commonly associated with breathing during sleep. In this, the respiratory process gets interrupted for a few seconds during sleep.
The pause of the respiratory process for 10 seconds or more is called 'obstructive sleep apnea'. This process can happen hundreds of times in a single night.
As a result, excessive daytime sleepiness, difficulty concentrating or headaches, depression, etc. may occur. Its most common feature is snoring.
Although the disorder is not fatal, it can result in serious problems such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
It is diagnosed through polysomnography, a method of recording body movements during sleep.
