Peninsular Rock Agama

  • It is a type of garden lizard, which is found in large numbers in South India. Its scientific name is Psammophilus Dorsalis. Habitat loss and urbanization have affected its presence.
  • The colour of this large animal is orange and black. They depend entirely on external sources such as hot rocks or sunny places to keep their bodies warm.
  • They are important from the point of view of various ecological aspects. Their presence indicates the warming of the cities. An increase in their numbers would indicate a change in the food web as they use insects as food.
