The Union Finance Minister has announced a new scheme named 'PM'S Development Initiative for North-East Region: PM- DevINE' in the Union Budget 2022-23.
RS 1500 crores will be allocated at the initial stage for this scheme. It will be implemented by the North-East Council. It will create new livelihood opportunities for the youth and women in the North East region.
This scheme strengthen infrastructure as per the objectives of PM Gatishakti and provide finance to social development projects as per the needs of the North East.
This scheme is not a substitute for the central or state-run schemes at present, only new projects will be financed through it. Under this, priority will be given to the projects proposed by the state, although the central ministries can also submit the proposal of any project under this.
