PM Gati Shakti -National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity was inaugurated by the honorable Prime Minister. This plan would resolve the past issues pertaining to major infrastructure projects by institutionalizing holistic planning concerning different stakeholders. This would mean that all the projects would be prepared, implemented and executed through a common vision. This will give an impetus to the development of infrastructure projects worth Rs.100 lakh crore.
It will incorporate the infrastructure schemes of various Ministries and State Governments like Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry/land ports, UDAN etc. Economic Zones like textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defence corridors, agri zones will be covered to improve connectivity & make Indian businesses more competitive.
All the existing and planned initiatives and programs of various Ministries and Departments would be incorporated in a single centralized portal under this initiative. It will be helpful in coordination among the activities of various departments as well as different levels of the governance system.
This master plan emphasizes on application of various technologies. The plan will provide the entire data at one place with GIS based spatial planning and analytical tools having more than 200 layers, which would ultimately facilitate and enable the implementing agencies in carrying out their work.
This would create new employment opportunities which would be beneficial in boosting the economy. This would make the local products more competitive by improving the supply chain and bringing down the logistics costs.
