To boost the combat prowess of the Indian Air Force, the first batch of indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) has been inducted at Jodhpur Air Base. These light combat helicopters have been named 'Prachand'.
Developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, it is the world's only attack helicopter capable of flying up to an altitude of 5,000 meters with a load of weapons and fuel, meeting the specific requirements set by the Indian Armed Forces.
The helicopter uses radar-absorbing materials to reduce radar signals. It used two engines which have been developed in collaboration with HAL and France.
It is equipped with a crash-proof structure, landing gear, pressurized cabin and countermeasure dispensing system to protect it from enemy radar and nuclear, biological and chemical contingencies.
