The frozen snow on the Utah mountains of the United States of America and the Tony Grove lake located here have turned pink.
This phenomenon indicating adverse environmental condition has been named watermelon snow.
This is the result of growth of psychophilic bacteria in cold environment. Due to this the albedo of ice decreases due to which the rate of melting of glaciers becomes faster.
It usually occurs in spring and summer. This phenomenon was also observed in the year 2020 on the Presena Glacier in the Italian Alps Mountains.
