UPPSC Prelims Syllabus 2024

  • The UPPSC preliminary exam consists of two question papers.
    • The first question paper is of 'General Studies' while the second question paper is called Civil Services Aptitude Test(CSAT)
  • Both the question papers are objective (multiple choice) in nature.
  • If the candidate gives more than one answer to a question, then that answer is considered wrong.
  • The marks obtained in the preliminary exam are not included in the marks of the main exam or interview.

Paper-1(General Studies)

  1. Current events of national and international importance
  2. History of India and Indian National Movement
  3. Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social,  Economic Geography of India and the World
  4. Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues etc
  5. Economic and Social Development, Sustainable Development-Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives etc
  6. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization
  7. General Science

Note: Candidates will be expected to have general knowledge of the above mentioned subjects with special reference to Uttar Pradesh.

Paper-2(CSAT)

  1. Comprehension 
  2. Interpersonal ability which will also include communication skills.
  3. Logical and analytical ability.
  4. Decision making ability and problem solving.
  5. General intellectual ability.
  6. Elementary Mathematics up to high school level - Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics.
  7. General Hindi up to high school level.
  8. General English up to high school level.
